Birthday Thanks and Things

Even though Thanksgiving has come and gone, I am still soaring through my birthday with gratitude. I can’t tell you how many times I have thanked God for the restoration and healing that has been worked out in my family. Personally, I have seen my own heart change in many ways. Inviting Jesus into my life has enabled me to resolve misguided emotions and break down walls that distanced me from the love of Christ and my family. For example, in high school, I spent a lot of time running from circumstances. I would continually search for a way to get out of my house rather than surround myself with the loved ones that care for me.

Even though I can’t get back what sometimes feels like lost time, I am blessed with a second chance. A second chance to experience God’s love and grow alongside my family. If I had the choice to do it over, I grimace and know that I would not skip the heartache. As much as I hate the hurt, I would not be where I am now without it, and I would not be able to get so much joy from the simple Thanksgivings and sweet birthday wishes.

Speaking of sweet birthday wishes, I am overwhelmed with the efforts my husband, family and friends went through to make my day special. Yesterday, I celebrated my 24th birthday, which really kicked off on Sunday when I went to Canton, TX for their First Monday Trade Days. Canton did not disappoint with its 100+ acres of vendors and booths. We were there for 5 hours and saw maybe one-fourth of the Β entire place. After Canton we settled in for some Zesty Vegetable Soup, cookie cake and gifts.

My mom makes our cakes every year, and I guess I was a little caked out, so I requested chocolate chip cookie cake. I must say it was a great choice!!

My birthday eve celebration was superb! After cake I opened presents!

Eron also got me the movie BRAVE! He knows I love animated movies and hadn’t seen Brave yet, so you can bet we watched it that night! We stayed the night at my mom’s in Colleyville and the next morning on my actual birthday day I woke up to another birthday tradition. My mom likes to hang encouraging birthday posters outside our door when we wake up. It was nice to be home for another birthday poster!

Eron and I had big plans to visit a trampoline park but unfortunately we both had a minor stomach bug and opted for a less bouncy birthday adventure. We headed to Sunshine Glaze in Southlake to paint pottery! I had never been there before and was excited to see how it worked! What you do is pick out a piece of potter you want to paint and than any stencils stamps or sponges. Once you had an idea of what to paint you could pick out colors! I decided to wing it and Eron took a more dedicated approach, by drawing his design first.

Eron chose a rice bowl and I chose a cereal bowl! The paint comes out ten times duller than what it looks like with the glaze on it! I can’t wait to see my bowl when it is all bright and shiny!

After pottery painting we drove back to Wichita Falls for my final birthday event! More Painting in a How Great Thou Art painting class! My mother-in-law invited me and my sister-in-law, Becky to come out and paint nutcrackers! Here is mine:

Ok, Ok I know this is getting long and drawn out but I must share one more gift! My friend Whitney got me cool new dishes and despite my poor photography skills and iphone camera abilities, my breakfast looked so good in my funky new bowl!

IMG_0472I had 1/3 cup old fashioned oats cooked with an egg, 1/4 a cup of water, vanilla, cinnamon and a Truvia packet. Β I added half a sliced apple, cooked on a skillet and sprinkled with cinnamon and truvia. My bowl was topped off with a teaspoon of peanut butter! Ok I am done now! Time to finish these finals! Wahoo!

  1. I’m so happy for you that you’re feeling so fulfilled from your faith! There’s really nothing better than that. πŸ™‚ Your birthday looks like SO MUCH FUN!! And that cookie cake?! I could eat half of a cookie cake by myself easy. Especially one that looks that delicious.
